SG 550 / PE 90 Standard
The assault rifle 90 (abbreviated to Stgw90) was, as the name suggests, introduced in the Swiss Army in 1990 as a replacement for the assault rifle 57, which dates back to 1957, and is also authorised for shooting sports. It is one of the most accurate assault rifles in the world.
To date, around 450,000 assault rifles 90 have been delivered to the Swiss Army. The French designation of the weapon is Fusil d'assaut 90, the Italian Fucile d'assalto 90, abbreviated in both languages as Fass 90.
The manually adjustable gas nozzle has two settings, one for normal operation and the second for use in case of heavy fouling or icing.
